What are Dental Veneers?
A dental veneer is a thin layer of synthetic material (either porcelain or composite) bonded to the tooth’s surface. Veneers are a great alternative to other, more painful dental procedures designed to improve the appearance of your smile.
Think You Need Braces
Veneers are often referred to as “Instant Orthodontics”. With veneers, a significant aesthetic result can be achieved with minimal tooth preparation.
Common Problems Addressed by Veneers:
- Spaces between the teeth
- Broken or chipped teeth
- Permanently stained or discoloured teeth
- Crooked or misshapen teeth
Applying Veneers
Veneers are applied to the teeth in 2 visits:
- Veneer Preparation: The teeth are prepared by removing 0.3 to 0.5 mm of enamel (about the fingernail’s thickness) to make room for the veneer layer. An impression of the teeth is then taken and sent to a specialized dental laboratory that will create the veneers.
- Veneer Bonding: Once the veneers are ready, they are bonded to the teeth with a special dental cement hardened with ultraviolet light.

This before-and-after showcases a transformative smile makeover at Green Lane Dental Clinic, featuring the use of metal-free crowns and bridges, along with Emax Veneers.
Initially, the patient presented with missing teeth – specifically the upper right second and fourth teeth. Additionally, the lower jaw displayed old crowns, notable for unsightly dark lines at the gums.
The comprehensive restoration involved replacing these old crowns and filling the gaps with a seamless blend of metal-free crowns and state-of-the-art veneers, resulting in a harmonious and aesthetically pleasing smile.
